LABforKids is an initiative of K'werk Zug and Bauforum Zug for building culture education formats for schools and educational organisations. Within the framework of action and competence-oriented teaching, young people, especially children and adolescents, are to be picked up in their living environment and motivated to form their own opinion on the built environment and to actively participate in shaping it. Based on an interdisciplinary approach, LABforKids promotes both their creative abilities and their reflection on their own actions with regard to ethical values and sustainability issues. LABforKids thus also promotes an understanding of multicultural ways of life and at the same time creates identity for one's own living space.
Giving pupils a basic knowledge of building culture has been one of the federal since the «Building Culture Strategy» (2020) at the latest. The conscious dealing with building culture presupposes basic knowledge. What could teaching at the various look like in concrete terms at the various school levels? In collaboration with the Pädagogische University of Schwyz, a teaching dossier has been produced which provides some answers to this question.
At K'werk Zug, our programmes are created through exchanges with committed partners from the fields of art, design, architecture and education. Together, we develop inspiring projects that enable children and young people to gain new creative experiences. These collaborations are essential for us - they broaden horizons, connect disciplines and create space for creative development.
Since 2020, the photography class at K'werk Zug has been an integral part of the Prix Foto for young talent. Every year, the young talents put the theme of indulgence centre stage - with expressive studio photography and a documentary look at indulgent creations.
Since 2012, our visual arts school has been represented every two years at the Baar Children's Culture Day with the animated film workshop or the spatial laboratory. Children immerse themselves in the world of animation or space with a great deal of experimentation and imagination - and create their own moving stories or buildings in the process.
Since 2019, K'werk Zug has brought two exciting programmes to Lucerne every year: whether lively animations, creative street art or experimental Lego printing - children can try out new techniques and create their own works of art.
Since 2022, K'werk Zug has been represented with a permanent teaching unit at Zug Special Needs School. A specialist from our team accompanies a class in visual arts and creates a creative space for individual expression and artistic development.
Since 2012, K'werk Zug has been working with Märlisunntig to invite young children aged 4 and over to take part in creative storytelling. In changing formats, we combine fairy tales and design a magical experience that is met with great enthusiasm year after year.
